When Sodiq approached me in Abuja about bringing Founders Friday to Minna, I was interested but cautious. Expansion into a new city requires someone on the ground who can build institutional trust, manage complexity, and keep the programme running without constant oversight from the centre. Sodiq did all of that and more. He did not just execute the plan we agreed on; he built the stakeholder infrastructure that made the plan possible in the first place. The Enabler Network he convened with his team, the partnerships he activated across universities and innovation hubs, the government relationships he navigated, none of that was handed to him. In six months, Sodiq managed a ₦50 million infrastructure conversion project, co-led a partnership through a sensitive leadership transition, and designed and delivered two talent programmes, simultaneously. That would be impressive for a senior team. He did it as a project associate. What distinguished him was not just the execution; it was the ownership. He treated every workstream as if he had personally committed to its outcome, not just been assigned to it. The co-working hub was delivered on scope and within budget.
